Kissing Jax felt like heaven. Her mouth moved boldly across his.
Ever barely registered her actions. There was only the feeling of his arms sliding around her waist and tugging her close.
This time, he didn't seem surprised. This time they were each reaching for the other.
She ignored the old linoleum and the couch that hadnât been new even when she was small. She ignored the TV set that was three generations back and the laptop that Royal had left on the coffee table. Her life was a series of contradictions and she hoped Jax Mayfair didnât see them. Or if he did, that he didnât judge.
Her hips moved of their own accord. As she sucked in a needed breath, her breasts pushed up against his hard chest.
She was supposed to be running errands. She locked her hands behind his neck, holding him close.
She was supposed to pick up the boys after school. She pushed up on her tip toes and licked at the bold mouth that tempted her.
She was supposed to not get involved with this man. As his eyes fell closed and his mouth surrendered to her, she swept her tongue across his and pressed her whole body to his. His head lowered just a fraction and he captured her mouth and took control of the kiss.
She was pushed against the wall, held by his body and his ravaging tongue. Ever surrendered to the feelings that pulsed through her system. She needed this. She needed him.
Sheâd told herself she was kissing Jax to distract him. She didnât need the questions she saw on his face. But she didnât see questions in his eyes now. She saw desire. Need. Heat. She was kissing him because she wanted to.
He moved back away from the wall, and she felt the loss of him acutely. For a moment, she feared sheâd gone too far. Her heart clenched in her chest as she waited for the reprimand, the cold look, for when his arms fell away and he left without words.
But his arms didnât fall away. He was tugging at her, turning them and placing himself against the wall. He was lower now, nestling her between his legs and pulling her closer. She crashed into him again, a tangle of arms and mouths and wants.
It had been so long since sheâd been with anyone. Since sheâd returned home to handle her parentsâ funerals and realized that there was no going back. There was no one else for the boys. So she was kindling, dry and waiting and, with a single touch, Jax Mayfair had set her on fire.
Her fingers curled around his head, cupping the short hair, holding him as if he might escape and she wouldnât allow it. His own fingers wove into her hair and tugged lightly, pulling her head back. She couldnât fight it. Whatever he wanted, Jax could have. She needed him, needed his skin on hers, needed to feel him moving inside her. She needed to call out his name and come hard against him.
